We are looking for a sophisticated, smart, hunter who has successfully raised funds and has a proven track record of institutional sales and in the pension fund space. This is critical and must be immediately visible from your experience.

Our client is one of the largest private alternative investment managers in Africa. They manage investments in private equity, infrastructure and a range of impact funds. They have a super smart team based in SA and Africa and manage a significant number of active funds and invest in a very large number of portfolio companies.
They now seek a client director to join their client markets team.
You will report to the chief operating officer. This is a big meaty job with high expectations and a great offering to market and sell. Support is there; products are well received and now it’s the right person to step in and make ‘it happen’!
JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- You will be responsible for the raising capital from institutional investors, including pension funds, endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds and family offices;
- You will be required to play a key role in expanding the company’s investor base, developing long-term client relationships and driving fundraising efforts across our differentiated investment capabilities;
- Capital raising:
- You will be required to develop and execute a strategic plan to raise capital from institutional investors for existing and new funds;
- You will be required to build and maintain strong relationships with quality LPs, identifying new fundraising opportunities;
- You will be required to lead and support the end-to-end fundraising process, including investor due diligence, roadshows and closing processes;
- Investor relationship management:
- You will be required to cultivate and manage relationships with institutional investors, ensuring regular engagement and communication;
- You will be required to act as a key point of contact for investors, addressing enquiries and providing updates on fund & business performance;
- Business development & market intelligence:
- You will be required to identify and engage new institutional investors, leveraging existing networks and industry research;
- You will be required to stay updated on industry trends, competitor fundraising activities and market dynamics to enhance the company’s positioning;
- Collaboration & internal coordination:
- You will be required to work closely with investment, legal, compliance and operations teams to ensure smooth fundraising and investor onboarding;
- You will be required to partner with marketing teams to develop high-quality pitch materials, investor presentations and thought leadership content.
CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

- You have excellent communication (verbal and written) skills in English;
- You have high energy level, strong sense of teamwork and a ‘can do ‘ attitude;
- You are a persuasive negotiator;
- You have solid listening skills with high EQ;
- You have strong technical knowledge of alternative products this would be a distinct advantage;
- You are resourceful and creative;
- You have strong evidenced ability to close deals.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- You have a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field (MBA / CFA a plus);
- You have a minimum of 7 years current, relevant experience in institutional sales, investor relations, or capital raising within alternative investments or investment banking;
- You have a strong network of institutional investors, with a track record of successful capital raising.
- You have a deep understanding of alternative fund structures, investment strategies and the LP-GP landscape;
- You have exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment strategies clearly;
- You are highly motivated, results-driven and capable of working independently and as part of a team;
- You will be required to meet FAIS fit and proper requirements for an Authorised Representative.
