Our client is one of the largest private alternative investment managers in Africa. They manage investments in private equity, infrastructure and a range of impact funds. They have a super smart team based in SA and African and manage a significant number of active funds and invest in a very large number of portfolio companies.
They now seek a private equity analyst to join their team.
The team is dedicated to achieving outstanding investment returns while making a significant meaningful and positive impact, focusing on building a diverse portfolio of private equity investments in medium to large enterprises primarily based in South Africa.
This role is suitable for appropriately qualified affirmative action candidates.
JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- You will be required to provide a support function for deal-sourcing, execution and monitoring of the company’s private equity portfolio;
- You will be required to perform comprehensive financial analyses and develops sophisticated financial models;
- You will be required to support the identification and organisation of due diligence activities;
- You will be required to analyse market trends, industry dynamics and potential investment opportunities;
- You will be required to provide assistance with structuring and negotiating deal terms during transaction processes;
- You will be required to complete quarterly investment valuations;
- You will be required to deliver insightful analysis and recommendations to guide the company’s private equity team’s investment strategies;
- You will be required to prepare and deliver reports and presentations to aid informed decision making;
- You will be required to consistently maintain a high level of professionalism, safeguarding the company’s private equity’s reputation in all client and prospective client interactions.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- You have a chartered accountant (CA(SA)) qualification – this is required;
- You have 2 years’ current, relevant post-articles experience in private equity, investment banking, or financial services with some relevant experience- so not retail banking etc;
- You have advanced financial modelling and analytical capabilities, with proven ability to analyse intricate data and deliver concise, actionable recommendations;
- You have a grasp of private equity fund structures and investment approaches based on your two years’ experience and relevant studies. You may only have one year’s experience in PE but then have an extra study in valuations or PE.
