They now seek a risk manager to spearhead initiative in the risk and compliance space.
JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- You will be is responsible for identifying, assessing and mitigating risks that could impact the company’s operations, investments and reputation. The role ensures that robust risk management frameworks and processes are embedded across the business, supporting the achievement of strategic objectives and regulatory compliance;
- Risk identification and assessment:
- You will be required to conduct comprehensive analyses to identify potential risks across investment portfolios, operations and business processes;
- You will be required to develop and maintain risk registers and risk maps for all business units;
- Risk strategy and policy development:
- You will be required to design and implement risk management policies, procedures and frameworks in line with industry best practices;
- You will be required to regularly review and update risk management strategies to reflect changes in the regulatory and business environment;
- Risk monitoring & reporting:
- You will be required to monitor key risk indicators (KRI’s) and emerging risks, providing timely reports to EXCO, the board and relevant committees:
- You will be required to prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, and scenario analyses for decision- making forums (e.g., investment committee, credit committee, etc);
- Risk mitigation and control:
- You will be required to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including contingency and business continuity plans:
- You will be required to oversee the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements;
- Stakeholder engagement:
- You will be required to collaborate with portfolio managers, investment analysts, compliance and operations teams to ensure cohesive risk management practices;
- You will be required to represent the risk function in internal and external audits, regulatory reviews and industry forums:
- Regulatory compliance:
- You will be required to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation (e.g., FAIS, FICA, POPIA) and industry codes:
- You will be required to stay abreast of regulatory changes and assess their impact on the business;
- Training and awareness:
- You will be required to facilitate risk management training and awareness initiatives across the organization.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- You have a bachelor’s degree in finance, risk management, economics, or a related field (postgraduate qualification – this is preferred);
- You have a certification in FRM;
- You have professional certification such as certified risk manager (CRM) or IRMSA risk manager – this would be a distinct advantage;
- You have a minimum of 5 – 7 years’ current, relevant experience in risk management within the financial services or asset management;
- You have in-depth knowledge of South African regulatory requirements and asset management industry standards;
- You have advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel).
