A New Home for Second Chances
After 30 years of working from an ad hoc, pieced-together building, we were honoured to receive funding from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to create a purpose-built reception area and four high-quality consulting rooms – a space that truly reflects the level of care our animals deserve.
This is now the first stop for every animal visiting Mdzananda. Here they receive vaccinations, deworming, medical treatments, and bookings for sterilisations or operations. From here, animals are either referred to our hospital or operating theatre, or sent home with medication for home-based care.
Our consulting rooms also serve as an education hub, where every guardian receives tailored guidance on their animal’s specific needs. We will soon be introducing educational videos in isiXhosa that will play while people wait to be seen, helping to empower our community with accessible, practical information.
Thank you to our incredible funders, our pro bono architect, Jackie James, and every partner who helped make this dream a reality.
