They administer retirement funds and facilitate risk (insured) benefits. The company manages investments for retirement funds.

They now seek an investment solutions strategist to join their team. You will report to the head of solutions.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be responsible for the development of investment solutions and products for institutional and retail clients and representing these products to internal and external clients including investment consultants, existing clients and prospects.  You are  centrally involved in shaping the firm’s strategic agenda including:
    • End to end investment product;
    • High priority project and problem-solving focus;
    • Strategic positioning of investment value proposition;
    • Assisting in multi stakeholder engagement in particular facilitating collaboration in investment team, operations, distribution and other departments;
  • Internal focus:
    • You will be responsible for driving the execution of all product lifecycle elements, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development and product launches;
    • You will be required to work cross-functionally (portfolio management, sales, research, marketing, portfolio etc.) to drive initiatives and provide steering where required;
    • You will be required to work alongside portfolio managers to represent the range of funds to external and internal stakeholders;
    • You will be required to deepen internal relationships with sales teams to understand and identify potential gaps in product range, identify industry trends;
    • You will be required to help conduct internal training sessions as and when required to share product knowledge;
  • External focus:
    • You will be required to help to lead external commercial efforts for a wide range of strategies, solve for client needs, build and deliver on strategic growth plans;
    • You will be required to design and test systematic strategies and investable indices to capture specific market exposures;
    • You will be required to analyse and review systematic investment strategies and index methodologies proposed by third parties, providing a critical comparison between index strategies;
    • You will be required to support the commercial strategy, including distribution support across client segments;
    • You will be required to present the funds and market views to existing and potential clients as well as industry forums;
    • You will be required to produce and present digestible and relevant applied research / thought leadership.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have a CFA / CA(SA) or B.Bus Science  qualification – this is preferred;
  • You have a minimum of 5 years current, relevant experience in FS in a similar role.
