Our client is a corporate debt marketplace that uses a digital platform to revolutionise how corporate debt instruments are issued and traded in South Africa. They are a dynamic digital marketplace where issuers, arrangers and investors meet to set up debt market transactions.
They now seek an intermediate business analyst to join their team. Report to the head of Growth and propositions.
JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Requirements elicitation and analysis:
- You will be required to engage with business stakeholders to understand objectives, challenges, processes and requirements;
- You will be required to facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to gather information and validate needs;
- You will be required to analyse existing business processes and identify opportunities for optimisation and automation.
- You will be required to translate business requirements into clear and actionable functional requirements;
- You will be required to document current-state and future-state business processes where required;
- You will be required to identify dependencies, assumptions, constraints and associated risks;
- You will be required to ensure business requirements align with strategic objectives and operational realities;
- Solution definition and documentation:
- You will be required to develop detailed business requirement documents, functional specifications, process maps, workflows, user stories and acceptance criteria;
- You will be required to collaborate with developers and technical teams to ensure requirements are understood and correctly interpreted;
- You will be required to clarify requirements throughout the development lifecycle;
- You will be required to ensure solution designs remain aligned to approved business requirements;
- You will be required to assist with backlog refinement and prioritisation activities;
- You will be required to support implementation planning and release readiness activities;
- Stakeholder engagement and delivery support:
- You will be required to build productive working relationships across business, operations, product, technology and external stakeholders;
- You will be required to communicate project progress, risks, issues, dependencies and decisions clearly and proactively;
- You will be required to facilitate requirement reviews and stakeholder sign-off processes;
- You will be required to support change management and business readiness activities where required;
- You will be required to assist end users in understanding new functionality and process changes;
- You will be required to act as a trusted liaison between business and technical teams;
- Quality assurance and testing:
- You will be required to develop test scenarios and test cases based on approved business requirements;
- You will be required to execute manual functional testing of new features, enhancements, and system changes;
- You will be required to perform structured regression testing prior to production releases;
- You will be required to validate delivered solutions against documented requirements and acceptance criteria;
- You will be required to identify, document, prioritise and track defects through to resolution;
- You will be required to verify defect fixes and support retesting activities;
- You will be required to collaborate closely with developers to investigate and resolve issues;
- You will be required to participate in user acceptance testing and support business stakeholders during testing cycles;
- You will be required to maintain testing documentation and evidence for audit and governance purposes where required;
- Process improvement and operational excellence:
- You will be required to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk and enhance user experience;
- You will be required to analyse operational data and system usage trends to identify improvement opportunities;
- You will be required to recommend enhancements to business processes and platform functionality;
- You will be required to contribute to the continuous improvement of analysis, testing, and delivery practices.
- You will be required to promote consistency, quality, and best practice across project and operational activities;
- Governance and quality standards:
- You will be required to ensure requirements and testing activities comply with agreed delivery methodologies and governance standards;
- You will be required to maintain accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle;
- You will be required to support audit, risk, compliance, and operational control requirements where applicable;
- You will be required to escalate risks and issues appropriately and in a timely manner;
- You will be required to ensure traceability between requirements, development activity, testing and delivered outcomes;
- You will be required to bridge the gap between business requirements and technology delivery by translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements and ensuring delivered solutions meet agreed business outcomes through structured testing and quality assurance activities;
- You will be responsible for business analysis, stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, process improvement, solution validation and delivery support;
- You will be responsible for performing manual quality assurance and regression testing to ensure changes are fit for purpose and align with business expectations before release;
- You will be required to play a central role in ensuring that solutions are correctly understood before development begins and thoroughly validated before release;
- You will be required to work closely with product, technology, operations, and client-facing teams to identify business problems, document requirements, support solution design, coordinate user acceptance activities and execute manual testing;
- You will be required to challenge assumptions, identify risks early and ensure that delivered functionality addresses the underlying business need rather than simply implementing requested features;
- You will be required to own the integrity of requirements and supports delivery quality by participating in validation and testing activities throughout the delivery lifecycle;
- You will be required to own:

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- You have a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related field; and practical experience in business analysis and solution delivery in FS;
- You have professional certifications such as IIBA, CBAP, ECBA, Agile Analysis, or related certifications – this would be a distinct advantage;
- You have a minimum of 3 – 6 years current, relevant experience as a business analyst, / quality assurance analyst;
- You have experience documenting business and functional requirements;
- You have experience creating user stories, process flows and acceptance criteria;
- You have experience supporting Agile, iterative, or project-based delivery environments.
- You have experience executing manual functional and regression testing;
- You have experience managing defects and supporting user acceptance testing activities;
- You have experience working with business stakeholders and technical teams;
- You have experience within start-up/scale-ups, fintech, or and capital markets – this would be a distinct advantage.
