JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to assist the CEO/COO   and company community with the management and delivery of strategic projects and initiatives in line with organisational and divisional objectives while engaging key stakeholders;
  • Provide direct support to the CEO/COO:
    • You will be required to participate in program management for the CEO/COO, which involves duties on a weekly, monthly and ad hoc basis;
    • You will be required to organise and gather information from various departments and meetings and reports that information, along with recommendations, to executive members;
    • You will be required to coordinate and direct communication for the CEO/COO by filtering only the most essential communication and controlling the meeting schedule;
    • You will be required to strategically manage the CEO/COO’s  time through looking at long term travel calendar, evaluating opportunities and determining fit with priorities;
    • You will be required to participate in meeting preparation and follow up by reviewing upcoming meetings for the week to ensure all information needed is received as well as sending out agendas or documents to meeting attendees as necessary;
    • You will be required to review internal and external communications by drafting reports, speeches or presentations for the Execs. Research, write, edit and / or coordinate preparation of special reports, briefings and presentations;
    • You will be required to research, write, edit and / or coordinate preparation of special reports, briefings and presentations;
    • You will be required to monitor information flow by acting as a gatekeeper, ensuring a CEO/COO’s  involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment;
    • You will be required to act as a representative of the CEO/COO.
  • Strategic planning:
    • You will be required to co-ordinate and participate in strategic initiatives by leading, executing and reporting results back to the CEO/COO;
    • You will be required to lead the annual strategic planning process for the company by acting as a project manager and ensuring alignment with the Executives and leadership team;
    • You will be required to create and update dashboards for reviewing key performance indicators;
  • Project management:
    • You will be responsible for overseeing large, often cross-functional organization-wide projects or initiatives;
    • You will be required to bring together multiple stakeholders and helps drive decision-making;
    • You will be responsible for researching, benchmarking, analyzing data and making recommendations;
    • You will be required to participate in systems and processes to streamline operations;
  • Office of the CEO/COO management:
    • You will be required to provide leadership and effective management in all areas of staffing and personnel, administration, project completion;
    • You will be required to keep up with industry trends by reading literature and communicating with peers;
    • You will be required to monitor market trends;
    • You will be responsible for other duties as required.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have a Masters/ CA(SA).
  • You have project management certification – this would be a distinct advantage;  or experience managing complex projects and problems;
  • You have executive leadership development or senior leadership skills –
  • You have a minimum of 6 – 8 years current, relevant experience in a similar role within a financial and services environment (preferably listed entities).
  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ current, relevant experience within management consulting, financial analysis or strategic finance operations;
  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ current, relevant experience working with executive leadership and board members;
  • You have advanced Excel (MS Office Suite) knowledge;
  • You have technology savvy;
  • You would be able to manage the following stakeholders to a greater or lesser degree:
    • Executive leadership;
    • Divisional executive leadership;
    • Divisional finance directors;
    • Finance community;
    • Audit committee;
    • Company secretariat;
    • Investor relations;
    • Project management office;

You are career focussed. You are smart, capable, smart working and presentable. You are happy to work to an undefined day – most times and able to move quickly from one project to another. You are not easily flustered and enjoy finding outcomes for problems even if there is some ambiguity to navigate. You are a skilled communicator and while you will operate at a senior level you are able to do whatever it takes to ensure the offices of the CEO and COO are run effectively and efficiently. We want someone who can be both strategic and operational at the same time – no ivory tower mentality. Lean office with super smart people who are very focussed on doing things right and smart. Prior person was poached and other has moved into a senior role with their own P&L – so career trajectory is visible in these roles.
