Our client is a multi-specialist investment company in 10 African countries with business partners

in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.  As one of the largest investment managers in South Africa, the company employs a wide range of professional and specialist investment and technical staff. Staff compliment countrywide is nearly 600. They have a diverse investment offering designed to deliver on their investment promise to their clients.

You will report to the CFO.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to plan, manage and monitor the implementation of financial activities and processes in order to deliver on approved operational plans in an effective and efficient manner, with a focus on the Institutional business area;
  • Process :
    • You will be responsible for maintaining quality, service and outputs related to a work area, ensuring compliance with set policy, procedures and standards;
    • You will be required to proactively identify operational problems, determine cause and effect, select and implement the best solution to solve problems based on previous experience and understanding of the context;
    • You will be required to plan for and organise multiple work activities for team execution by assigning priorities against the set framework in light of the specific situational context;
    • You will be required to analyse operational records, trends and costs related to estimated and realised revenues to project future revenues and expenses;
    • You will be required to ensure accurate reconciliation of financial transaction records to supporting documentation to enable verification of the validity of transactions;
    • You will be required to ensure the accurate operation of rates and terms related to financial service offerings;
    • You will be required to facilitate internal and external audits, financial statements and regulatory submissions;
    • You will be required to implement and manage the accurate preparation of budgets and ensure monitoring of performance against actual outcomes;
  • Finance :
    • You will be required to compile a budget aligned to the operational or area specific delivery of plans; monitor and report on variances and make sure that planned objectives are reported, escalating any deviations;
    • You will be required to manage the effective cost control of financial processes in line with targeted savings;
  • Learning and growth:
    • You will be required to schedule, allocate and effectively manage human resources within own area of responsibility in line with specified and specific constraints or parameters;
    • You will be required to manage teams within the context of defined processes, set required performance parameters and act as technical coach where required;
  • Governance:
    • You will be required to implement and utilise risk, governance and compliance policies and processes effectively, to identify and manage risk exposure;
    • You will be required to create awareness to ensure the effective implementation of changes in policy, laws, regulations and associated industry practices.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You are a CA(SA);CIMA
  • You have a minimum of 5 years current, relevant experience in FS and ideally asset management. You will show case all your skills – and enjoy a successful fast paced dynamic working environment. Rewards on performance are significant and visibility in the organisation is high in this role!
