They now seek a multi asset fund manager to join their team.
We’re looking for a potential succession candidate for the PM running their balanced funds. This is a 3+-year transition starting with a more junior /co PM status.
You are smart, friendly, and passionate about investments. You must have some training in asset allocation and fixed interest. As most analysts have some equity background, this is a given. Ideally, you are in an asset allocation division in a reputable firm where, due to age and competition, the scope or runway to PM is limited in the mid-term. So, you will have a clear line of sight of your career in this role.
You have the following in bucket loads:
- Business thinking – Can you analyse a company properly? Do you understand return drivers?
- Portfolio thinking – Can you connect ideas into a portfolio? Do you understand risk interactions?
- Scenario / risk mindset – Do you think in ranges, not forecasts?
- Decision-making & behaviour – Evidence of discipline and learning and on-going learning;
- Integration & communication – Can you operate inside the team and process, and effectively communicate internally and externally?
For succession, this client will need someone that can fit three different profiles:
- Future PM – needs to be strong across all 3: equity + portfolio + behaviour;
- Analytical lever – strong in risk, data, systems (which supports scaling);
- Equity understanding – core skill remains critical;
The big opportunity here is growth and succession.
