They now seek a quantitative analyst to join their team. You have some industry knowledge and knowledge of asset classes.
This is a role for an employment equity candidate.
The team is global with presence in Cape Town, London and Luxembourg. The team plays a central role in measuring and monitoring the company’s investment strategies through rigorous, data-led insights and advanced quantitative methods. This covers single assets, portfolios/funds, benchmarks, strategies, capabilities, and the firm as a whole. They work closely with portfolio managers and investment professionals to shape and enhance their research capabilities, tools and decision-support platforms. Their function spans model development, investment tool design and the integration of quantitative techniques into active investment decisions and processes. Their goal is to partner with all stakeholders while providing critical oversight for the business. They combine forward-looking analytics with historical performance to ensure appropriate outcomes for clients. Their key stakeholders include portfolio managers and the broader investment teams, client groups, marketing and senior management.
JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- You will be required to monitor the integrity of the investment philosophy and process, while continually assessing the robustness of investment decision-making;
- You will be required to proactively engage with stakeholders across the business, including portfolio managers, client group, product development and senior management, embedding data science and quantitative analysis into the day-to-day investment decisions and processes;
- You will be required to support the investment technology team in developments around data and tools to enhance and automate processes for reporting, as well as improving data visualisation;
- You will be required to prepare analysis for use in external client reports and in response to RFP’s, occasionally attending client presentations to help articulate the company’s approach;
- You will be required to interpret and implement new regulatory data / quantitative requirements to ensure compliance with specific regulatory authorities is maintained;
- You will be required to manage day-to-day and periodic reporting for specific Investment teams and portfolios, helping to troubleshoot and solve challenges of a quantitative nature;
- You will be required to help to support the team globally, including regular data control and checks and maintaining benchmarks;
- You will be required to provide insights into factors contributing to performance outcomes, as well as identifying and evaluating potential risk-mitigation strategies where appropriate.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- You have a degree in a quantitative subject or with a high mathematical content (e.g. mathematics / statistics, finance, econometrics or related disciplines);
- You are a FRM or CFA qualified (or studying towards – this would be a distinct advantage);
- You have a minimum of 3 years’ current, relevant direct experience in investment analytics or equivalent or experience in a related area within asset management, investment banking or finance – this would be a distinct advantage;
- You have a genuine interest in financial markets, instruments, analytical concepts, sustainability in the context of financial markets;
- You have working experience of VBA, SQL, R, and Python (this would be a distinct advantage);
- You have experience with StatPro /Revolution, MSCI BarraOne, Factset (this would be a distinct advantage).
