They now seek a valuations manager to join their team. The valuations team’s main responsibilities are, but not limited to: regulating submissions: SAM, ORSA, SARB, CBR, capital requirement determination, life product valuations, monitoring offshore capacity, reporting on metric packs (the company and the group), business insights and movements analysis, annual budgeting and quarterly forecast updates.
JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- You will be responsible for heading up the actuarial valuations team, currently comprising of two actuarial analysts and one junior analyst;
- You will be required to drive all regulatory, risk and management valuations reporting done in the team and drives the key deliverables and support to the different business units;
- You will be responsible for leading the valuation and financial reporting processes in line with industry standards;
- You will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business strategy and decision-making, including providing input on the annual budgeting process;
- You will be required to provide mentorship and development opportunities for junior actuarial staff;
- You will be required to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in actuarial analysis;
- You will be required to engage with the HAF on deliverables to the company;
- You will be required to engage with both internal and external auditors;
- You will be required to work towards meeting deadlines while maintaining high level of accuracy;
- You will be required to be able to explain actuarial concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- You have a university degree majoring in either investment management, insurance mathematics, actuarial science, quantitative finance or financial management;
- You have a minimum of 5 years current, relevant experience;
- You have a AMASSA qualification through the Actuarial Society of South Africa or similar level achieved through other Actuarial Societies;
- You have experience with actuarial valuations for a Life company, SAM, ORSA;
- You have advanced use of Excel, VBA and SQL;
- You have team management experience;
- You have an understanding of wealth and investment products;
- You have experience with budgeting processes;
- You have familiarity with R, Python or PowerBI.
